C.M.P.

The CMP/High Power Rifle program at GCF&G is operated by the Fairborn Rifle and Pistol Club, a CMP affiliated club of over 25 years.
The program has been operating at GCF&G since 1992.

We host weekly High Power Rifle matches from the first week of May through the end of September.
Our matches are open to members of GCF&G and the general public.

Our matches consist of timed fire, slow and rapid, from the 100 yard line using military style rifles from three different positions.

Firearms:
Firearms are governed by CMP rules; exceptions may be made for first time shooter on case by case basis. Scopes are allowed on AR-15 style rifles up to 4.5 power.
Approved rifles ae military style rifles, M1 Garand, M1 carbine, M1A, 1903,1903a3,1917 Enfield, 30/40 Krag, Enfield, Swiss k-31 style, AR-15, Etc.

We shoot from standing, prone and sitting or kneeling positions.

The club has on hand M1 Garand, M1 carbine and AR-15 rifles for use during these matches and can provide ammunition for matches at cost.

The club can provide for use at matches:
Rifles, shooting mats and jackets, spotting scopes and ammunition.

We have many long time members that can help with instruction, tips and pointers.

We encourage and accommodate junior shooters 12 years old and up.

We also host an instructional clinic every spring on a weekend in May during which we hold a short classroom style introduction to high power rifle match shooting , safety rules, and positions and match procedures.

All equipment is provided for this clinic, and a 30 round match is shot immediately following the classroom using club provided, or student provided M1 Garands or military rifles.
At the end of the clinic all participants are given a signed certificate of marksmanship and firearms safety training.
